You might be forgetting these places when you declutter

wait where?

I think some of the best moments we can have while organizing are in the unexpected places.

In our quick hustle to complete a project it can be really easy to forget about areas of your home. These forgotten places are often the ones that will simplify your daily life the most.

These places may be a little more obscure, but they will certainly pay off in peace of mind.

1. The Freezer

Do you know what is in your freezer?

I certainly forget from time to time. Because the freezer is such a convenient way to store food, we often forget what we have tucked underneath everything else.

If you hosted a Christas dinner last year, are your unused frozen appetizers still sitting in the back?

One super fun way to declutter your freezer (after checking expiration dates) is to have a dinner composed of everything uneaten. Once you have cleaned it all out you can start to use it in a functional way again. Having to scootch everything around to close the door is going to bother you eventually.

2. The Sock/Undergarment Drawer

For some reason this drawer just becomes a black hole. When we have too many items shoved in one drawer it can easily become a chore to pick out socks for your day.

The decluttering of this drawer more frequently will surely make your daily life so much easier. We all need socks and underwear so why would we neglect this space?

3. Holiday Decorations

When you pull out the holiday decorations, does your family point out ornaments that haven’t been used for over a decade?

Because holiday decorations are mostly out of sight and out of mind it is so easy to just pop them back into storage after the holidays. Most of us aren’t looking for an organizing project when celebrating the New Year. However, this could really be worth your time… at some point.

4. Email Account

Unsubscribing to email lists is the most beautiful form of self-care.

Taking the time to do this at least once a month could clear out so much space for you to focus on work.

5. The Back of Your Car

Again… out of sight, out of mind. I think everyone has had a few months go by where they just listen to stuff slide back and forth with each sharp turn on the road.

Having a clean car is a great way to make your morning commute a little more peaceful.

Take back those turns where you flinch in fear and instead just clean it out.
