Refreshing Your Home for Spring (Without the Clutter)

spring is here

Spring is upon up us! The air is changing, the flowers are blooming, and it feels great. One of the best ways to feel energized for the season is to do a refresh in your home.

Here at Avance we often discuss the benefits of decluttering under the Marie Kondo method. What’s wonderful about the Marie Kondo method is that while keeping a clutter free home is the priority is allows wiggle room for you to enjoy physical belonging that bring you joy.

If you are a lover of decorating, you home spring is the perfect time to revitalize a space.

Here are five ways to refresh your home for the spring:

Open the windows and let the light in

One of the best ways to let in the lightness of spring is to literally open the windows. Getting some fresh cool air into your space will lighten up the mood.

The same goes with your drapery and fabrics. Opting or switching out your drapery or curtains for a lighter feel will open a space. The same goes for throw blankets, comforters, throw pillows and other textiles. Lighter fabrics and patterns mixed with the open air will give your home a new lease on life.

Fresh flowers

Grabbing some fresh flowers from the farmers market or the grocery stores is a wonderful way to add some life into your home.

House plants are another option as well. There are many studies that show that having plants around can make us happier. It’s a great way for a refresh without having to purchase new décor.

Refresh your fridge and menu

Physical belongings are not the only way we can recharge with the season. A good fridge clean-out always seems to do the trick.

Dust off some of those cookbooks that have got lost in the craze of February and look for some new recipes. Adding in some fun new flavors to your diet is the perfect way to spark joy in the kitchen.

Food is one of the best ways to bring together your friends and family. Maybe a dinner party is in your future…?

Deep clean

There is nothing and I mean nothing more refreshing than a deep clean.

Whether you need to do a total declutter or finish up some bookshelf dusting a deeper clean can bring new life to your home.

Changing out your wardrobe for spring, decluttering the pantry for cooking, or finally donating that pile of books by the front door will feel like weight off your shoulders.

A new scent

Changing out your cleaning supplies, candles, room sprays or perfumes is wonderful way to welcome a lighter side.

Scent is large part of how our space makes us feel.

Going for a lighter scent and moving away from the warmer smells of cosy winter can change the way a room feels.
