How to Stay Organized Through Christmas

merry christmas!

The lead up to Christmas is chaotic and exciting, but when December 26th comes around there might be a big mess waiting for you to tend to. With presents, parties, dinners and friends it can be difficult to think beyond the big day. Here are five things you can do throughout or even after the holiday to make your life a little easier when New Year’s Eve rolls around:

1. Declutter your things

Getting presents is a wonderful feeling! However, it is important to make some room for them in your life.

Think about the items you received and question if they can replace any worn out items that are sitting in your closet.

If you know that the new pack of socks you received are going to be your most worn don’t hesitate to declutter your old pairs.

2. Organize your new presents

When you receive a new item make sure you are going to enjoy it by giving it a home. Fold these new possessions into the fabric of your life by bestowing it a living space.

Leaving many of your presents in a big pile for a couple of weeks may be convenient but organizing them will help you start enjoying them now.

3. Collect wrapping paper as you go

On Christmas morning try to collect all the wrapping paper into one big pile or even keep a trash bag handy for loose paper. This way the end of your night can be enjoyed with good food and merriness instead of pickup duty.

4. Write down a list of names for thankyou cards

If you received presents from friends who live far away or clients for your business, it is always best practice to thank them for their gift. However, once all the presents are opened it can be a challenge to remember who gave you what.

Try to keep a notepad near your present opening area so you can easily write down addresses and names of those who will be receiving a thank you.

5. Clear room in the fridge

Leftovers from Christmas dinner are an absolute must. Make sure to clear some room for that extra pie and mashed potatoes to enjoy later.
