Four Things to Clean...That You Probably Need to

soon?

So, there’s tidying…and then there’s cleaning.

Throughout the week we may have normal tidying routines. This usually includes putting things away, doing the dishes, the laundry, making the bed etc. It’s those big-ticket items though that get put off for the weekend.

Some bigger ticket items are relatively simple to clean up, but they are often forgotten in our busy lives. Here are five things to deep clean that you probably need to:

1. The washing machine

Did you know that you need to clean your washing machine?

Just like any other appliance about once a month it is best practice to disinfect your machine. This will ensure that your clothes come out smelling fresh and clean after every wash.

Here are three steps:

  • Run your machine with bleach or a bleach alternative. Some newer machines even have a setting for this process.
  • Run another rinse cycle just to ensure all the bleach is washed away.
  • Wipe down the barrel of the machine to prevent molding.

2. The fridge

The fridge is another household item that can be a real hassle to clean out. To start try decluttering your fridge like you would a closet. This is going to be the perfect chance for you to toss any expired condiments.

Once you have decluttered, pull everything out for a short period and put it on the counter. From there you are going to want to pull out the shelves and drawers and wash them by hand.

3. The pantry

Just like the fridge but a little easier, the pantry is going to be cleaned first with a declutter.

Once everything is pulled from its place try dusting or wiping down shelves depending on your pantry.

From there put your dry groceries back into functional categories.

4. The dishwasher

Did you know that your dishwasher has a filter that needs to be cleaned?

Try to locate your dishwashers filter using a manual or the internet and give it a gentle washing.

The next step is going to be to actually clean the inside with a tablet. Regular grocery stores should sell tablets to run your dishwasher with for a interior clean. However, if you can’t find those try placing a bowl with vinegar on the top shelf and run the dishwasher with nothing else (not even detergent).
