Five Habits for Your Perfect Nighttime Routine

unwind and stay organized

At the end of a long day the last thing we want to think about is a long list of to-dos. However, getting yourself into these five habits will ensure that your mornings are productive and relaxing. A lot of good organizing tips suggest preparation to lower stress.

Being prepared for life does not have to be a biproduct of anxiousness and a want control the uncontrollable. Taking extra steps to be ready for the following day is a wonderful way to care for ourselves and set up our time to be spent on things that bring us joy:

1. Write a List

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night with a running lost of everything you have to do in the following day? I know I have, and it is not a fun feeling.

Instead of letting those thoughts pile up in your night of sleep get ahead of them at night.

Keep a notepad near your bed to jot down a couple reminders before bed.

2. Set out your outfit/lunch/bag

Setting out your outfit, lunch or bad in the proper spot for the morning will ease a lot of morning stress.

When you are running late doing your hair or you had trouble getting out of bed those little head start will be a life saver.

Even if you have a smooth morning having those little tasks already completed will allow you to craft a morning routine you love. For you that could mean five extra minutes to spend with your kids or to enjoy your morning coffee before work.

3. Set alarms

Before you go to bed its always a good idea to set your alarms. If you get up at the same time every day you can set your apple device to go off every day of the week at the same time.

Not having to think about your morning alarm will bring you peace of mind as you drift off to sleep.

Also make sure to make your alarm something that will be a nice start to your morning. Try setting it to a peaceful song or a sound effect that is sure to get you out of bed.

4. Take care of yourself

Taking care of our physical bodies is a great way to prime our morning routine.

Once you find the ways you feel your most confident make sure you factor in steps for those outcomes at night.

That could mean washing your hair, doing your nighttime skin care routine, cleaning your glasses, etc. Whatever it is that makes you…you!

5. Settle down

Settle down in the way that is best for you.

This could be curling up with a good book, watching your favorite show, or enjoying a cup of hot tea.

Winding down with some relaxation is a nice way to thank yourself for a day of hard work.
