Spaces to Declutter That You've Forgotten About
Do you want to declutter but don’t know where to start? Try these eight places you might have forgotten about:
1. The Trunk of Your Car
If you are not a person who’s consistently using the back of your car it might be time for a check in. Going through the day-to-day we might forget what we have rattling around in the backs of our cars.
2. Makeup Bag
Whether we like to admit it or not our makeup bags can be a mess. Check through and empty the contents every once in a while. This will ensure you’re not holding onto unused or expired products.
3. Smart Phone
After a while our phones become collection spaces for unused apps. Make sure you assess which applications you get something out of and delete the rest. This will free up more storage on your phone for the things you actually want.
4. Bookshelf
Bookshelves are often neglected in the declutter process because they have a technical dedicated spot. Shake it up! If yours hasn’t had a declutter in five years or so it might be time. Make sure the books still reflect your current interests. The process may jog your memory to all those books you were meaning to read… at some point.
5. Low and High Pantry Shelves
The pantry is surely an obvious place to declutter but often we forget about the hard-to-reach spaces out of our eyeline. Figure out what clutter may be hiding in plain sight at the very top and bottom of your pantry. I assure you that if you move someday, you will find things up there you forgot you even owned.
6. Nail Polish Collection
Nail polish collections grow and grow through out the year when seasons change but we fail to remember to toss out expired product until its too late. Assess which colors you are still using regularly and declutter the rest.
7. Junk Drawer
The junk drawer is such an easy place to forget about. Its main function is…well to sort of be a mess. However unused menus, key sets, medication, utensils etc. could be hiding in plain sight.
8. The Condiment Shelf
Those little shelves in our fridges become catchalls for all our cooking hopes and dreams. Whether we wanted to try a new recipe or salad dressing sometimes things get left behind, unused. Clear out the shelves and check those expiration dates!
I hope this article gave you some inspiration for a good weekend project! Checking those least thought of places is a great place to start.
