Organize Your meals

Have you heard about meal prepping? …So have we and we’ve got some great tips to get you started. Meal prepping is a great way to organize your breakfast, lunch and dinners for the week and to eat healthier. It’s also a sustainable way to plan your consumption for the week. Meal planning or prepping ensures that your weekly food waste is minimized. It can save you money, calories, time and wasted food!

What is Meal Prepping?

It sounds self-explanatory and for the most part it is! Meal prepping is a common practice of preparing your meals in advance. The topic has expanded greatly in recent years as cookbooks, blogs and even companies have exploded onto the scene. Meal prepping is a great way to eat healthy while keeping a busy schedule.

Let’s be honest not everyone has the time to cook an easy nourishing meal every night of the week. When we are tired and hungry that’s when we often reach for the takeout menu. While the takeout menu is loved and will not be forgotten, meal prepping can help us break that habit (just a little).

How to Meal Prep

Make a Plan

  • Start with searching for recipes that interest you
  • Look for recipes that can be frozen or keep well for the week
  • Plan for 2-3 meals that will have left over portions

Buy Your Ingredients

  • Make a list and head to the store!

Prep

  • Prepare your meals as far as you can into each recipe. You can complete full recipes and freeze them for reheating later or just prep your ingredients. This can be done to really any meal of the day including breakfast and lunch.
  • Spend one day of the week that works for you doing the prep work or cooking for the meals.

*Pro Tip: If you are preparing your meals to-go it’s always a good option to package your meals beforehand. Placing each portion in a daily container is a great time saver.

Enjoy

  • Now that you have done the hard work enjoy your prepped meals during the busy week!
